Housed in a monumental building in the city centre, on the border of one our favourite neighbourhoods, "De Pijp". We describe the area as a lively bohemian district, a melting pot with an extremely homely appeal. We're just around the corner of the famous Albert Cuyp market, Leidseplein, Rembrandtplein and some of the city's major museums.

ADDRESS

Cocomama Hostel
Westeinde 18
1017 ZP Amsterdam
The Netherlands

Cocomama has quite an interesting history. Believe it or not, but before we turned it into the city's first (and only) boutique hostel, it used to be a well-known brothel. We kept the marble entrance, royal round staircase, original chandeliers and high ceilings in place – the rest we let go of (sorry guys).

We're only one block away from the Albert Cuyp market, Europe's largest daily open-air market. We (and our wallets) love the stalls – offering anything from fresh produce, Dutch street-food, to the latest in fashion (well girls, not sure about the last one, but it's definitely fun to have a look around).

Tram-stop, supermarket, museums, cafés, restaurants, canals, park – anything one needs when visiting Amsterdam is on a stone's throw away. It's as central and easy as it gets.

GETTING AROUND

CAR

The closest public parking is called APCOA PARKING and is located 550 meters from the hostel. That's like a 7-minutes walk. The address is Heinekenplein, Eerste van der Helststraat 6, 1072 NV Amsterdam. Open 24/7. Parking is expensive though in Amsterdam city (this parking charges € 42,00 a day). If you park outside the city centre, it's a lot cheaper & you can easily reach us by tram.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Tramstop Stadhouderskade  (metro 3,4,12) and Tramstop Frederiksplein (tram 7,10,) are located a one minute walk away from the hostel. A ticket can be purchased at one of the vending machines at the metro station or in the tram.

A one-hour ticket is € 2,80, but if you're planning to get around by public transportation, we'd recommend you to get the 24 hrs ticket, which is € 7,50. Don't forget to check-in and check-out each time you take a ride.

BIKE

Amsterdam is an ideal city to get around by bike. Not recommended for beginning bikers though. Experienced biker? Definitely, the way to go. That's how we do it. Rain or sunshine.

TAXI

Don't take it personally if a taxi driver is grumpy to you. That's just how many of them are. Not all of them accept credit cards, so it's good to have some euros on hand when you're planning to hail a taxi. If you travel from Schiphol Airport, you should be fine though. We use our own taxi company and our own rates. Contact us if you would like to get more information.

WALK

We're in the good part of town as we can basically walk anywhere. Be careful of the bikes and trams when you cross the street, they go fast, can appear out of nowhere and zig-zag their way through the streets.
